LEVEL Self Leveling Mortar is a cement-based self leveling underlayment formulated with a special blend of binders, polymer & chemical additives. It is used to even, correct & smoothen the concrete slab before installing finished flooring (e.g. carpet, vinyl & ceramic tiles, wood laminates and hardwood) on interior & exterior covered concrete floors. With outstanding flow & high compressive strength properties, LEVEL produces smooth, durable & hard surfaces with 3 – 5mm thickness, perfect for relatively flat floors that need minor flatness & roughness corrections.

Surface Preparation

The concrete surface must be fully cured and structurally stable. Keep the surface clean and free of paint & contaminants such as dirt, dust, loose material, oil, chemicals and other foreign matter that might prevent LEVEL from adhering to the substrate. Do not acid etch or use adhesive removers, solvents and sweeping compounds to clean the substrate. Shot blasting, scarifying and other similar methods are the best way to clean solid concrete. Dormant cracks and joints should be repaired prior to application of leveling mortar.

Dampen the substrate with water before applying LEVEL Primer. On the concrete substrate, apply LEVEL Primer using a brush or roller. To make sure that application area is completely covered, apply LEVEL Primer in 2 coats. Allow to dry. Depending on weather and humidity conditions, LEVEL Primer will dry in approx. 30 minutes  4L LEVEL Primer at 2 coats covers approx. 10m².

Joints and Cracks: Under no circumstances should LEVEL be installed over any moving joints or cracks. This will reflect or appear on the mortar as cracks therefore it is best that the underlayment and flooring will follow all existing expansion joints, isolation joints and construction joints.

1. Mixing

Pour water into the mixing pail and add powder. Use a mixing torque or paddle and stir the mixture thoroughly for approximately one (1) minute to obtain a smooth and lump-free mix. Observe the correct mixing ratio for best results. Bubbles or foam while mixing, or settling of the sand aggregates during installation, indicates that too much water has been added in the mix.

Caution: Use only non-absorptive materials as mixing base (plastic pail or galvanized iron sheets). If absorbent materials such as plywood, wooden box, gypsum board, fiber cement board or cardboard is used, it will affect the chemical properties of the product, which can result in bonding failure and poor product performance.

2. Application
Pour the LEVEL mixture immediately on to the concrete surface. Spread and smoothen the mixture using a spiked roller to remove entrapped air and to create seamless and continuous joints. LEVEL is designed to be installed at an average thickness of 5mm, fully bonded to the substrate. To maintain the homogeneity of LEVEL, always prepare the exact quantity needed for the total floor area to be covered.
